For this Paris Fashion Week, I had the pleasure to be invited by Chanel to discover the new high jewellery collection called Signature. As with every presentation, I was delighted to discover the new pieces and enthusiastic about the work of the house’s creative studio. The 48 jewels that make up this new opus are a tribute to the quilted motif, which is emblematic of the brand.
The raw materials are superb and the work of the in-house workshop and of the companies with specific expertise that collaborate with the brand is perfect. The centre stones, deep blue sapphires, are magnificent. The work of cutting and adjusting the elements sculpted in rock crystal is remarkable. And the mother-of-pearl marquetry enhances several of the pieces in the collection in a rather unexpected way. Finally, the different stages of manufacture (the jewellery work, the setting of the gems as well as the polishing of the metal…) are perfectly mastered by the craftsmen. The pieces are thus very elegant and balanced. And this is exactly what I expect from a high jewellery collection. I have to admit that the house, year after year, is becoming more and more important on the market.
