On Friday 1st July, Chanel opened the ball of high jewellery presentations for the month of July 2016. For this, an astonishing artistic installation had taken up residence for a few days on the Place Vendôme.
1 million ears of wheat, 4 tons of paint and, above all, 500 people were mobilised for the installation of Gad Weil’s work. And the Vendôme column was like an apparition in the middle of a field of gold…
If the theme of wheat is visible this year in most of the high jewellery collections, Chanel decided to offer more than 60 pieces that reflect the love that Chanel had for this plant that decorated her flat, her suite or her house La Pausa. A real success! It was also an opportunity to discover the newly opened Ritz after a very long restoration and the suite located just below the one occupied by Coco Chanel. A daydream!
The design studio has succeeded in constantly renewing this motif through the various sets and unique pieces such as the “L’épi” brooch, the “Fête des Moissons” necklace or the “Bouquet de Moisson” clock. Let’s add an irreproachable quality of manufacture, perfectly studied volumes, settings of great finesse, not to mention the polishing of the pieces which highlights the work of the jewellers…
