I like colourful, bright stones with bold colours. I like it when designers introduce more daring mixes. I like inclusions and stones with stories, while loupe clean gems often appeal to me less, unless they come in more atypical sizes, which give them a potential that the classic sizes diminish. And then, I like opals.
For many years now, they have been a classic in high jewellery collections. We remember Louis Vuitton, which presented remarkable pieces featuring them last July. For this month of January, it is the house of Dior that has clearly illuminated this fashion week with perfect centre stones from Ethiopia or Australia. Victoire de Castellane offered us pieces faithful to her creative identity: colours that clash and respond to each other but also cascades of diamonds make up this new opus“Dior et d’Opales“, like a box of acidulous candies that just wants to be shared.
